Today the students had the chance to experience AKS’s annual rice planting or taue event. It was a hot day outside, but everyone did their best and worked hard. The students not only learned the importance of rice planting, but also were able plant the rice plants by themselves. Experiencing rice planting first hand, allows the students to appreciate what the rice farmers must go through each year to provide rice to everyone.

Unearthing Talents!

During homeroom activities, the sixth graders took up a challenge in designing a picture book for students in the lower grades and the preschoolers at AKP. The students unearthed their talents by writing interesting stories and illustrating them with pictures for easy understanding and reading. Way to go!

Sweet Potato Party!

Today, AKS students roasted potatoes they harvested the other day. First, they washed the dirt off and covered the potatoes with aluminum foil. Then, they put them in fire to roast. They used rice husks to make the fire so that the potatoes would taste better.

Both students and teachers ate the potatoes after lunch. They were pretty full after lunch, but were still able to eat up all potatoes. They were so delicious!

International Meeting!

The second graders had a Skype face to face interaction with some students in Tanzania today! They exchanged information about their countries. Some of the topics they discussed were related to language, food, places to visit, weather conditions, culture, etc.

It was a great chance for second graders to use English and also realize how useful it is to be able to use English to communicate with people all around the world.

Digital Blackboard

Today the students had fun in English Class by using the digital backboard to practice phonics and spelling. By using Word and the blackboards ability to write over any screen, the students quickly grasped the content being taught.
