The children came to school in their jinbei, full of energy, and excited by the different atmosphere of the Tanabata Festival. The festival started with singing Tanabata songs, and each class enjoyed festival games, including toy fishing, shooting, lottery drawing, and other activities. In the Nagashi somen (flowing noodles) game, the children skillfully grabbed the noodles with chopsticks as they floated down the stream and ate lots of them. In the watermelon smashing game, the children had fun leading their blindfolded friends to the watermelon by shouting loudly. They received prizes and bamboo with Tanabata decorations that they had made themselves, and it was a very satisfying day.
