We held the Star Festival today, one of the events children look forward to very much. As soon as they arrived at school, children showed each other their (jinbei) outfits they were wearing and seemed to enjoy the change of atmosphere. After listening to the teacher talk about Tanabata and singing the Tanabata song together, everyone played games. They enjoy a wide variety of games, such as yo-yo fishing, darts, bowling, and a lottery. Also, during the lunchtime *nagashi-somen* (flowing noodles) activity, even though it was a first-time experience for some of the children, they were able to catch the flowing noodles with their chopsticks or forks and enjoy eating them. They enjoyed watermelon splitting especially when chanting out “Go right!” “Go left!”, and “Go straight”. The day was filled with lots of smiles and excitement.
