The 5^th graders made luncheon mats in the home economics class. They really like using sewing machines, so they were looking forward to this class and prepared their favorite fabric. First, they learned how to iron the fabric, then they started working on sewing.

Even though they had small problems like forgetting how to wind the bobbin, they were able to make them quicker and nicer than they thought. This lesson was a good chance for the students to feel the joy of creating their own things and it got them motivated to make some more.
