On Wednesday, January 15 we had our annual mochitsuki event. The older students learned about the origin and start of mochitsuki in their Social Studies class. They learned about other places in the world, such as Thailand and China that also have the same custom. They also learned that in different areas they have a different way of pounding and eating the mochi. In the end, all of the students had fun rolling the mochi they pounded and adding many different flavors.
