Hands on Rice Harvesting and Threshing

Every year at AKS, the students are granted the fortunate opportunity to experience rice farming first hand. After transplanting the rice in the spring, the students then harvested the rice and hang it to dry in the fall.

Finally, this week, when the rice was ready they used a traditional rice thresher to thresh the rice and collect it for it to be used in the future.

This experience gives the students a great appreciation for what the rice farmers that make their rice must go through to deliver them every delicious bowl.
